Housing professionals take the plunge for Crisis

Staff at Bradford housing group Incommunities are taking the plunge in support of national homeless charity Crisis and are inviting businesses and housing partners to back them.

Over the last five months, ten members of staff include the chief executive Geraldine Howley and executive management team colleagues Adrienne Reid and Greg Robinson have swum more than 456 miles in local pools, smashing their original target of swimming the equivalent of the width of the English Channel (22 miles).

To round off their challenge, Geraldine will lead the Incommunities’ team in the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere on Saturday 10 June.

Among the keen swimmers is Mark Crane, a joiner with Incommunities, who has clocked up more than 4,200 lengths – three times the width of the English Channel.

He said: "I’ve really enjoyed building up the miles and knowing I’m doing this for such a great cause (Crisis) has been a real motivation."

Geraldine Howley said: "It’s been a fantastic team effort to clock up more than 450 miles in support of Crisis, the nominated charity of the 2016/17 Chartered Institute of Housing President Julie Fadden.

"Hopefully, pounding the lengths in local pools will get us a great shape to take on the icy waters of Lake Windermere this weekend. Completing a course of the Great North Swim will be a fabulous way to complete our charity swim challenge.

"With just five days to go there’s still time to show your support for Crisis via JustGiving."
